Monster in My Closet
A Micro-fiction of Terrifying Proportions
"There's nothing to be afraid of," my mother says gently, closing my door as she exits my room. Instantly, darkness fills the void.
My nightlight shines bright as the only light left in the room, and at first all seems well.
But then comes a sound that makes me shudder; my closet door creaks open.
I huddle tight beneath my blanket, daring not to draw a breath.
Footfalls make their way over to me, stopping just beside my bed. A deep inhale comes; just above my head.
"You can't hide forever," comes the terrible, familiar hiss, "I'll get you yet."
About the Creator
Megan Baker (Left Vocal in 2023)
A fun spin on her last name, Baker enjoyed creating "Baker's Dozen" lists for various topics! She also wrote candidly about her mental health & a LOT of fiction. Discontinued writing on Vocal in 2023 as Vocal is a fruitless venture.
